Malcolm McLaren Died at 64

Malcolm McLaren Died — Last night, following a secret battle with cancer, the godfather of Punk Malcolm McLaren died at the age of 64. According to DailyMail.co.uk, former manager of impresario and Sex Pistols died in Switzerland with his son Joe Corre by his side.

Actually, he had kept his illness quiet but it was revealed last night that McLaren had been suffering from cancer for some time and his condition had recently deteriorated rapidly. Malcom McLaren was born in North London in 1946 and was best known as the manager of the iconic Great Britain punk band The Sex Pistols.

with his former partner, designer Dame Vivienne Westwood, McLaren was responsible for launching the punk movement onto an unsuspecting public after the pair opened a now-infamous clothes shop on London’s King’s Road, nicknamed Sex, in 1971.

Last night Miss Westwood said: ‘When we were young and I fell in love with Malcolm, I thought he was beautiful and I still do. I thought he is a very charismatic, special and talented person.

‘The thought of him dead is really something very sad. We hadn’t been in touch for a long time. Ben and Joe were with him when he died.’

Joe is her and McLaren’s son together whilst Ben Westwood is her son from her first marriage to Derek Westwood.

It was at McLaren and Westwood’s shop that John Lydon auditioned for the role of the Sex Pistols frontman, miming to an Alice Cooper record on the jukebox.

He achieved the notoriety that never left him when The Sex Pistols’ anti-establishment single God Save The Queen stole went to number two in the charts during the Queen’s silver jubilee in 1977.

So far, there’s no official statement when Malcolm McLaren funeral will be held.
