Jaime Escalante Died of Bladder Cancer at 79 — On Tuesday, the great figure and the former East LA High School teacher who taught the state that inner-city students may master the subject as demanding as calculus, Jaime Escalante, died at 79. Many websites reported that Jaime Escalante had bladder cancer before he passed away.
According to LA Times, after 1988 movie which portrayed his success in teaching working class pupils at Garfield High School to pass a rigorous national calculus exam, he became one of the most famous teacher in the United States.
Jaime Escalante was born in December 31, 1930 and died of bladder cancer at the age of 79. So far, there’s no official statement about Escalante funeral service. May he rest in peace.
