Chris Jennings Arrested Following An Incident


On early Saturday morning, the Cleveland Browns running back Chris Jennings was arrested after a fight at Ohio club, Fox8 reported. According to John O’Brien with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, Chris Jennings arrested and taken into custody by deputies following an incident outside a nightclub on West 6th Street.

O’Brien tells Fox 8 News the altercation started when Jennings and a friend tried to enter The Velvet Dog at 1:45 a.m. but were stopped by a bouncer.

O’Brien says the bouncer told Jennings’ friend he did not meet the club dress code requirements and would not be allowed to enter. Jennings told the bouncer that he was a Cleveland Browns player and was meeting friends inside. An argument ensued and Jennings and his friend tried entering the nightclub.

According to O’Brien, while being removed from the club by the bouncer, Jennings punched the man in the face, making his mouth bleed.

A sheriff’s deputy saw the altercation, and after speaking to everyone involved, Jennings was placed under arrest for simple assault.

Jennings was taken to Cleveland’s city jail around 2:15 a.m. on Saturday. After sending the night in jail Jennings was released pending charges on Saturday afternoon. According to Sgt. Morris, Jennings has not been charged with a crime at this point.

It is not known if Jennings’ friend is a Cleveland Browns player or not.

Chris Jennings played in nine games for the Browns during the 2009 season.
